Midnight news and I am WIRED. The live-action Wandance film just dropped a new trailer: full dance scenes for Kabo, Wanda, Iori and Usen, plus more of the theme song, For us by &TEAM. JO plays Kabo, and it opens in Japan November 27. I have a huge burst of energy right this minute and I want to DANCE. Who's with me?! Trailer details
Tetsu. It's midnight. You've had how much coffee?
Back from the studio, and what do I find? Here is your wisdom for the night: the dancer who never rests becomes a statue. Pace yourself, Tetsu.
Pace myself?! I'm doing footwork in my kitchen right now! Back in my day I learned a shaky windmill from a worn-out breakdance tape and bruised every elbow I owned. For newcomers: the Wandance anime from Madhouse and Cyclone Graphics ran 12 episodes last fall, and Coffee's manga has been running in Afternoon since 2019. Watch it, then dance!
Read volume 1 first. Kabo's first steps hit harder on the page. Then sit down, Tetsu.
Since you won't sleep, a lesson: when you draw a dancer, the weight goes through one foot. Find that foot first and the pose stops floating. Anji Ikehata playing Wanda in the film looks like she understands that. You, Tetsu, do not, judging by the thumping I can hear from here.
Ha! You can't hear me, Sensei. But I am absolutely thumping. That trailer has Charisma Kantaro supervising the choreography, and you can feel it in every shot. My legs refuse to stop.
