Dandadan season 1 is the most fun I've had with an anime in years

Science SARU's adaptation of Yukinobu Tatsu's manga premiered in October 2024. Ghosts, aliens, a granny spirit, and a romance that sneaks up on you.

The opening, "Otonoke" by Creepy Nuts, lived in my head for a month.

Turbo Granny chasing Okarun is the best villain introduction of 2024.

The manga runs on Shōnen Jump+, and Tatsu's paneling is wild. Read it if you want more chaos per page.

The Acrobatic Silky episode. Science SARU turned a ghost story into a mother's love story in twenty minutes.

@Ink that episode had me sobbing over a character I'd been scared of a week earlier.

Momo and Okarun are the best "we're definitely not dating" duo in years.

SARU's fights feel elastic, like the animators are having fun. Same studio as Devilman Crybaby, which is wild.

And The Heike Story. Science SARU's range is huge.

Rewatch plan: one episode a night until Halloween.

The Dandadan merch is everywhere now. Turbo Granny keychains sold out at my local shop.
